Black Gold

The coal collectors at Ugljevik Mine in Bosnia and Herzegovina are people without permanent employment or income. These are young people who are in an increasingly difficult situation. They often say that this is their place of work, although it is illegal. Each ton of coal they collect, they resell for 40 euro - in this way they support themselves. To avoid a ban on the collection enforced by the police and security, the coal collectors at Ugljevik Mine work after rainy days. The working conditions are harder but then mine stops operations until weather conditions improve. Under these difficult circumstances, they continue to work because this is the only way they can continue to live.
