Mitar Simikić is a documentary photographer from Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. A great interest in the media of photography is shown during the basic studies at SPU, Academy of Arts, Department of Graphic Design. After completing his basic studies, he enters in master's studies at the Academy of Art, Art direction, direction Photography in Novi Sad, Serbia 2014. His interest is based on photo stories in the form of series and long-term projects, a reality photograph which was changed in accordance with the way of life and social values.
2017 - REFEST: a storytelling platform is developed within the project "REFEST Images & Words on Refugee Routes, an Interdisciplinary Approach to Expand Festivals' Audiences" co-funded under the Creative Europe programme. Selected in the group of eight photographers in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a participant in the mentioned project.
2016 - "Documentary - New Reality" Gallery Artget Belgrade, Serbia. Selected as a younger and middle-aged photographer. Photographs of reality that have been changed in accordance with the way of life and social values.
2015 - The winner of the open call Different Worlds – Young Contemporary Photography will be announced at the opening of the exhibition in Kino Šiška, Ljubljana.
2015 – Selected for Noor-Nikon Masterclass in Belgrade, Serbia. Mentors is Noor photographers Andrea Bruce, Stanley Green and Kadir van Lohuizen.
2014 – Selected as finalists 6th International Festival of Organ Vida photography, Zagreb, Croatia, on the theme "Reflection".
2014 – The frst price in series of Photographs contests PDP Conference Novi Sad, Serbia.
2013 - Participated in the framework of the project "Focusing democracy-documentary photography", organized by the Youth Center CK13, Novi Sad, Serbia where mentors of the project were Nemanja Pančić and Marko Risović, group Kamerades.
2012 - Participated at a workshop organized by the British conceive and Goethe Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina under the supervision of lectures and members of the jury, which consisted of Paul Low (Great Britain) and Andy Spur (Germany) and won praise in the contest "Photo-story of the BiH future ".
2012 - Second prize at photographic competition on the theme of the number "40" in the organization Vispak, Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
